We have reserved a block of 20 rooms for the nights of 7-8 July (2-night minimum) at the Comfort Inn in Calistoga. Room rates are about $250 per night and there is a 30-day cancellation policy, after which we will have to pay 50% of the rate as a penalty. Each guest is responsible for booking and paying for their room. The block reservation, named Peter Michael Winery, is being held until May 23, 2017; after that the rooms will be released. This is a busy weekend in wine country, so please call the hotel directly to reserve your room and get the discounted group rate (don't book online). We don't have any rooms reserved at other hotels, but if you're looking for alternatives, you can also book a room at the charming Harvest Inn by Charlie Palmer at 1 Main Street in St Helena. The 74 rooms of the single-story Harvest Inn are spread across eight acres of landscaped gardens featuring conifer trees, flowers and walking paths surrounded by vineyards. Room rates are $650/ night and can be reserved by calling (855) 317-1522. Harvest Inn is about 35 minutes from the Peter Michael Winery.
For a luxurious spa experience, you can book a suite at Solage, 755 Silverado Trail in Calistoga. An Auberge Resort, Solage provides guests with a full range of spa services, unique wellness experiences, a Michelin-starred restaurant and complimentary cruiser bikes to explore the resort and the surrounding locally-inspired activities. Room rates are $950/night and you can reach Solage at (866) 942-7442. Solage is about 20 minutes from the Peter Michael Winery.
The dress for the party is "Elegant Summer Attire". (read: whatever's festive and comfortable - guys,
ties are definitely optional, with a special emphasis on comfortable shoes for the ladies - something
with a broader heel or flats). Be warned, the terrific, breathtaking observation platform has holes in
its walking surface that could easily catch and break a heel and/or break an ankle, should you decide to
blow out all the stops with a "saucy/hot" high heel. As the sun will still be fairly strong at 5:30pm,
consider bringing a hat and sunglasses.The weather should be warm during the day and possibly cool to chilly
at night. A wrap of some kind is recommended.
The party will be on the mountain at the Cote Deux Mille dining platform located at 2000'
on the western slope of Mount St Helena, within the Peter Michael Winery property in Knights Valley, California.
This is a beautiful venue from which you'll be treated to a deliriously incredible and unparalleled view of the valley!
A private bus will pick up all guests at 5:30pm from the Comfort Inn in Calistoga and transport everyone to the Peter Michael Winery, and deliver everyone back at the Comfort Inn at the end of the evening. This will hopefully help keep anyone from having to drive on the dark, unfamiliar roads after much merriment and perhaps an overabundance of delicious wine. The California highway Patrol in wine country is notoriously vigilant in arresting happy revelers for DWI.
